Wild Thing

A really tough loss tonight for the Phillies. Always tough to lose to the Mets, but even worse when it’s lost in the ninth inning.  Papelbon blows his second save of the season and the Phillies lose 6-5.  He may have gotten out of the inning if he didn’t slip and fall fielding a ball, but it was a tough play. I liked how Papelbon had extra juice on his fastball, hitting 96 on the gun in the inning, but I didn’t like how he had terrible control. He was reminiscent of Mitch Williams and “Load ‘Em Up” Lidge. That was the big problem for him tonight, no control. David Wright killed the Phillies tonight: 3-5 with 4 RBI.  The Phillies had a chance to beat RA Dickey tonight, but couldn’t get it done. They are now 13 games behind the Nationals and continue to look like they will be sellers at the trade deadline.
