Latest edition is that the Phillies have stepped up negotiations with Hamels and his agent and have told other teams that that is their focus right now. They’ve apparently put trade talks on hold according to Jayson Stark. Of course, I still think they have to trade somebody in order to get a third baseman next year. I can’t see them going another year with Polanco unless it is on a part-time basis, and his contract probably does not warrant that.
