Rollins and Pop-Ups

If you think you’ve seen Rollins pop-up a lot this year, it’s not just your imagination. Matt Gelb of the Inquirer has a good article about this. He actually leads all of baseball in that category. By a lot. And yes, apparently someone keeps track of that. Out of all the balls Rollins has put into play, 20.1% have been pop outs.  Charlie does not have encouraging news with is:

“In the last three or four years,” Manuel said, “his offensive performance is coming down. The older he gets, that can be expected. He plays a very important position. He’s in on a lot of action. He plays a lot of games.”

The article also mentions how his slugging percentage is up, but his on-base percentage is down and suggests he may be trying to hit home runs.
