What are those numbers, you say? They mean the Phillies are 9.5 games back in the wild card race with 34 games to play. The Phillies also have 6 games left to play against the Braves, the team at the top. Unfortunately, there are other teams between them and the Phillies. It is highly unlikely the Phillies will win that race. Long ago, I gave up on the season mainly because the bullpen was so bad. It has righted itself lately, but they’re a long way from proving themselves able to handle tight situations on a regular basis.

Still, with Halladay pitching better, and Lee looking good, maybe at the very least  the Phillies will be playing spoiler and making September baseball enjoyable.
