Mayberry

Recently there was an article in the Inquirer about John Mayberry Jr playing better since the trade deadline. And he has: .306 avg and a .878 OPS. However, and it says this in the article, this is a small sample size of games. I really hope the Phillies don’t think he can be a full-time player again. Because he can’t. He was given that chance this year, and it didn’t work. We can’t have a left fielder who plays well for part of the season. He just can’t hit right-handed pitching (.230 avg this year against righties).  It’s a shame, because he seems to have all the tools, and was a very high draft pick, but he just hasn’t been able to put it all together. It would be fine if he platooned in left, but he is not a full-time starter.
