Your Venezuelan League Update

Tomas Perez no longer leads the league in hitting, so for all you Perez fans out there, sorry.  Freddy Galvis is actually 5th in the league in batting average, hitting at a .338 clip and a .384 OBP.  This in 21 games and 80 at bats. As I’ve said before, these stats need to be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s better he hit .340 than .240.  Sean Burroughs is hitting .328, and he’s no Ted Williams.

Everyone’s favorite phenom, Darin Ruf, is continuing to be a one-man wrecking crew down in South America. While his average isn’t great, .264, all he does is hit home runs- 9 in 21 games. His OBP is at .364, but is striking out more than once a game on average.  Besides all those home runs he hit last year, one good thing about him was he hit for average, too.  Ruf will be an interesting story this spring.
