Okay, Well Here is Something…

The Marlins have said they would listen to trades for Giancarlo Stanton. Apparently the chances are “slim” that they would trade him, it is possible. For the Phillies, they probably have no chance. Stanton won’t be a free agent until 2017, so they don’t have to worry about paying him too much until then, although if he continues to hit like last year, he will be making eight figures in arbitration long before he hits free agency. With the Marlins being the Marlins, they will just want young talent, something the Phillies don’t have a lot of. They could make a push for Stanton by basically offering all of their top prospects and letting it ride in hopes that they will win the World Series because, regardless, if they make a trade like that, the Phillies, without any prospects coming up will be bad for a long, long time. So you would have to ask yourself, would it be worth throwing away competitiveness for years for a shot at the World Series this year?
