The Phillies apparently have not given up on trying to get Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins. Amaro has said he has made offers many times for the young slugger. Obviously he would look great in this lineup, but I wonder what the Phillies could offer that many other teams couldn’t. Plus, even if they did would the Marlins want way too much? I would hate to throw away the few prospects that we have for a guy who might not be enough to help the team get to the playoffs. He was hurt for much of the year, and is having a decent year, but you always have to be careful not to get too infatuated with a player and give him a huge contract or trade away too much.
